Vesa is a long-time Kopar worker

Name: Vesa Rosenberg

Title: Head of Service

Education: Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical and Production Engineering, Production Economics

How long have you been working at Kopar: Since 2007

How you spend your free time: Most of my free time is spent on my boys’ basketball and hockey activities. In the summer, I spend time with my family at the cottage, on the water, and walking the dog.

In almost 20 years, Vesa Rosenberg has seen Kopar evolve from a manufacturer to a full-service technology house. And, as you might expect, his resume has accumulated quite a bit.

Alongside his engineering studies, Vesa worked with machines and trucks. He even had a stint as a Logistics Engineer at Metso Minerals before Kopar came into the picture.

– From a fellow student, I heard that Kopar might have diverse job opportunities. He was right.

Vesa has also drawn others into the fold. In a story we previously published about Eero Lehtilä, Eero mentions receiving a job recommendation from his cousin. Vesa is this very cousin.

A Varied Career Path

For the first two years at Kopar, Vesa worked in contract manufacturing; after all, Kopar’s business was still focused on manufacturing at the time. His responsibilities included assisting the Production Manager.

Since 2009, Kopar’s business has focused on projects. Over time, the change has transformed the company into a technology house that offers the customer the entire solution from design to manufacturing.

The changing business model also affected Vesa’s job description, and he became a project manager. After a few years, new adventures were calling.

– In the early 2010s, I took a moment to see if the grass was greener on the other side, but it wasn’t.

So what drew him back to Kopar?

– There was a good team spirit right from the start: it was easy to join the team, and the place felt like home from the very beginning.

After returning to a familiar and safe working environment, Vesa has worked alternately in procurement and the service team.

His job description is quite broad. Responsibilities include offer calculations, site calculations, permit matters, site visits and spare parts sales. Having been with the company for a long time, historical information has accumulated on many things, and if necessary, Vesa helps colleagues with projects.

Last year, his role expanded further when Vesa became the leader of the service team.

– Every day is different, full of twists and new learning opportunities. It’s diversity that keeps interest alive.

Fair workplace

Vesa highlights his colleagues and opportunities to influence as the best aspects of Kopar.

– We have a great team and a fair employer. Personnel are taken care of, and their needs are listened to. You always have the opportunity to influence your own job description and try out different tasks.

And what kind of tips would Vesa give to a potential job seeker?

– A sense of humor and an eye for detail go a long way. Of course, the work is done properly, but it’s always good to do your job with a twinkle in your eye. In a close-knit work community, there is also the opportunity to influence things and take on responsibility. It’s always worth trying, no matter what.
