Drag chain conveyors for metal recovery plant
The customer expanded a concentrator plant operating alongside a steel mill, where alkaline slag generated in stainless steel production is processed. Valuable metals are separated from the solid slag and returned to the process. The primary objective of the plant is to recover a high-quality metal concentrate and return it to the steelworks as a raw material. At the same time, various slag-based products are produced to improve material efficiency.
Kopar supplied a system of four drag chain conveyors to replace the existing conveyors at the facility. The conveyors were designed for reliable handling of abrasive and dusty slag material under demanding operating conditions. To simplify maintenance and spare parts management, all four conveyors were engineered with identical dimensions and components, enabling a standardized and cost-efficient maintenance strategy.

Transport of converter dust
We supplied two chain conveyors for the collection and transportation of metallurgical converter dust at a copper smelter in Chile in 2026. Demanding conditions and strict quality regulations led Codelco El Teniente to once again choose Kopar's robust chain conveyors, which are designed taking into account the special needs of smelters.
Solid carbon handling in a hydrogen production plant
We delivered equipment for the safe handling of solid carbon to Europe's largest hydrogen production plant based on methane pyrolysis.
Cooling of the copper alloy
A cooling drum for copper calcine was delivered to KGHM's Głogów smelter in Poland in 2016. The cooling drum is fed with 20 t/h of copper calcine at a temperature of approximately 450°C. The drum cools the material down to approximately 130°C.
Bed sand drying
In 2015, we supplied a sand dryer for a power plant located in the Indonesian rainforest for the first time. The drying takes place in a rotating drum with a diameter of 1600mm, into which the wet sand is fed. The drying energy is generated by an oil burner. The dryer has a length of 5000mm and a capacity of 5 m³/h.
