Kopar offers a wide range of solutions for material conveying and handling. Our strength lies in knowing the properties of different materials and process conditions. Our special expertise is the mechanical and pneumatic conveying of concentrates and other abrasive input materials, process by and product streams, and primary and secondary acid gas dust. In addition, our crushers are used to break down dust deposits from waste heat boilers, among other things.

Mechanical conveyors

Kopar offers a wide range of mechanical conveyors specifically designed to withstand the demanding conditions of smelters.

Screw conveyors are suitable for the transfer of heavy and coarse materials, such as copper and nickel concentrates, as well as metal dusts and calcines.
Their robust construction ensures reliable operation in hot and abrasive environments, typical of smelter operating conditions.

Locker and separator feeders are used when precise dosing and material flow control are required, which is critical for process optimisation and quality assurance. These conveyors are especially favoured for the transfer of fine and dusty materials, such as metal powders.

Bucket elevators are effective for transporting slag and concentrates, and their high conveying capacity allows for smooth material movement during processes. Bucket elevators are particularly used when materials need to be moved vertically.

In addition, Kopar has developed special applications for slag granulation, among other things, which supports the furnace waste management process and promotes material recycling.

Pneumatic conveyors

Kopar provides a comprehensive range of pneumatic conveying solutions specifically designed for the needs of smelter feed materials and dust handling. These systems are highly effective in the transfer of concentrates, dust, and sinter from silos, waste heat boilers, electrostatic precipitators, and bag filters. Pneumatic conveyors enable the transfer of materials within closed systems, thus reducing dust dispersion and improving the safety of the working environment. They can be easily integrated as part of an existing plant.

As a special application, concentrates, coal or other powdery substances can be pneumatically injected in a controlled manner into the molten material in a metallurgical furnace, which optimises process efficiency.

In pneumatic conveyors, we utilise plug and dilute phase conveying methods, which enable the efficient and economical transfer of even demanding materials. Plug conveying is excellent for transferring materials with larger particle sizes, while dilute phase conveying is ideal for lighter and finer substances.

Both methods guarantee the rapid transfer of materials and minimise consumption in the transport system.

Additionally, we offer pneumatic conveying solutions for the transfer of difficult-to-convey dusts. Pneumatic conveying ensures that dusts are transferred safely and efficiently for processing or storage using rotary valves and hoses.

Crushing

Kopar crushers are designed to withstand the demanding conditions of the industry, offering high performance and reliability. The efficient crushing process reduces energy consumption and increases material recovery, supporting sustainability goals.

We use a variety of crushing technologies for different material types. Rotor and roller crushers are excellently suited for crushing concentrates, metal dusts, and zinc paste, among other things. Rotor crushers are top-of-the-line performers and extremely durable, making them an ideal choice for processing abrasive materials. Roller crushers, on the other hand, are suitable for finer crushing and are the choice when product quality requirements demand precise particle size control. Our crushers can also be used for crushing agglomerates and lumps of more specialised materials.

Our crushers are designed with easy access to serviceable parts in mind, allowing for quick repairs and part replacements with minimal production downtime.

Cooling

Cooling processes of zinc smelters require durability and reliability due to high operating temperatures and corrosive materials. Kopar's cooling systems offer an effective solution to these challenges.

Our cooling drums and KRC coolers are specifically designed for cooling hot and abrasive metal powders such as molybdenum, various slags and metal oxides.

Originally designed for calcine cooling, Kopar's cooling drums ensure that these materials safely and efficiently reach the optimum temperature before further processing or storage.

KRC offers a solution to challenging conditions where traditional cooling methods are no longer sufficient. This technology enables fast and efficient cooling, which is critical for preserving the chemical composition and physical properties of materials.

These devices can withstand many years of use in even the most demanding conditions. This improves the safety and efficiency of the production process while at the same time reducing the environmental burden during the cooling process.

In addition to individual equipment, Kopar designs and implements larger systems for processing metals and minerals. Our solutions are built around conveyors, feeders, and process equipment, which are formed into functional and reliable applications for different process stages.

Concentrate Processing

We offer solutions for the transfer of concentrates. The systems are designed taking into account the material's abrasiveness, dustiness, and flow properties, ensuring the process remains controlled and reliable.

The abrasion-resistant pneumatic and mechanical systems ensure the efficient and reliable transport of dry concentrates, even in hot and abrasive conditions.

Boiler dust treatment

Handling ladle dust requires tight and reliable solutions for conveying fine-grained and often high-temperature materials. Kopar's systems enable the safe collection, transfer, and return of dust to the process without leaks or environmental impact.

Our WHB dust handling solutions, designed for extreme conditions, combine all necessary equipment from crushers to screw conveyors and pneumatic pressure conveying. This ensures the controlled handling of high-temperature dusts with minimal wear and maximum operational reliability.

Slag processing

In slag processing, high temperatures and material abrasion are highlighted. Scraper elevators and dewatering systems ensure safe and efficient handling of copper ore and slag granules, reducing operating costs and improving process reliability.

Roasting processing

Roasting requires precise material flow management and durability in demanding conditions. We provide solutions for roasting material transfer, cooling, and storage as part of a continuous process.

Injection solutions

We offer pneumatic solutions for feeding fine-grained materials, such as concentrates, directly into the process. Handling of DRI

Mining industry

Typically, dust is managed by wetting materials and conveying them forward wet, which creates additional issues:
