Reliable Valves for Ash Handling in Northern Europe
In 2015, a solid fuel power plant operating in Northern Europe faced ongoing challenges with its ash handling. The pneumatic conveying system, which used disc slide valves as feed valves, suffered from repeated blockages and leaks, causing additional hassle.
Kopar Dome Valves Solved the Problem
To address these problems, the plant decided to replace its existing slide gate valves with Kopar’s robust and tightly sealed dome valves. The new valves were engineered to fit seamlessly with the existing setup, and the delivery included custom connection boxes to ensure smooth installation.
Scope of Delivery
Kopar delivered a total of 54 dome valves:
- 18 × K100T dome valves
- 36 × K200T dome valves
- Custom connection boxes for system integration
Key Benefits of Dome Valves
- Fully sealed structure prevents material spillage and dust emissions
- Simple and mechanically robust design minimises the number of moving parts and extends maintenance intervals
- Easy maintenance allows quick and safe servicing without long downtimes
The system has now been in operation almost ten years without any problems. The customer is very satisfied with the valves reliability, tightness and ease of maintenance, which have been key factors in the longevity of the system.

Conclusions
The system has now been in operation for nearly a decade without issues. The end-user has been highly satisfied with the tight sealing, reliability, and ease of maintenance, all of which have contributed significantly to the long operational life of the system.

Solid carbon handling in a hydrogen production plant
We delivered equipment for the safe handling of solid carbon to Europe's largest hydrogen production plant based on methane pyrolysis.
Bottom ash cooling
KRC coolers, specifically designed for cooling large bottom ash volumes, have been operating at this Polish power plant since 2018.
Copper calcine cooling
KGHM's Głogów smelter's copper concentrate cooling drum was delivered to Poland in 2016. The cooling drum is fed with 20 t/h of concentrate at a temperature of approximately 450°C. The drum cools the material down to approximately 130°C.
Bed sand drying
In 2025, we delivered another sand drying drum to the same Indonesian power plant as 10 years prior, this time with a capacity of 10 m3/h.
