Kopar rotary dryers are designed for reliable and safe drying of moist bulk materials in demanding industrial environments. In many industrial processes, material moisture must be removed before further processing. For example, in smelting processes, low moisture content in the feed material is a prerequisite for a stable process and pneumatic conveying, and in energy production, drying enables the use of natural sand as a bed material. With Kopar rotary dryers, moisture can be removed in a controlled and consistent manner, even when the material being processed is flammable, corrosive, or has variable properties.

Co-current drying ensures safety and consistent quality
Rotary dryers are based on the co-current principle, where the material to be dried and the hot drying gases travel in the same direction. The wet material encounters the hottest gases immediately at the feed end, and the temperature gradually decreases towards the discharge end. This makes drying efficient and safe, even for flammable materials such as metal concentrates.
Heat is generated in a separate combustion chamber, meaning the material does not come into contact with an open flame. The temperature of the drying gases is regulated automatically, ensuring a consistent drying result and preventing hazardous situations. Automatic process control keeps the drying stable even when feed quantity or moisture content varies.
The internal lift flights of the drum are designed to optimise the movement and contact of material with the drying gases throughout the entire length of the drum. This ensures uniform drying and reliably achieves the desired final product moisture content, even very low if necessary.
An overall solution instead of an individual device
Kopar delivers a complete drying system designed to operate as a unified process. Typical scope of supply includes:
- the combustion system with its burners and air supplies
- Rotary dryer with its internal parts
- Input and output systems
- for separating coarse material from screening
- gas treatment and dust filtration
- transport of dried material mechanically or pneumatically
- Automation and instrumentation.
The material recovered from dust filtration is returned to the process, ensuring that no valuable material is wasted. The system's interlocks and automatic pressure control ensure safe operation in all situations.
